Hanging a gate is one of the most important parts of building your fence because it is an access point, but it also plays a role in the safety and security your fence provides your property. Here are some tips to successfully hang your gate:
- Make sure the hinge hooks are pointed toward each other and not both facing up to the sky. This will ensure your fence will stay in place and nothing can bump it off the hinges easily. This is critical!
- Measure from the top of the top hinge to the bottom of the bottom hinge to know how far apart your drill holes are to hold the hinges.
- Make sure your gate is at least 6 to 8 inches off the ground to ensure it does not get stuck when you go to open and close it. If it is too low, it will alter the stability and strength of the fence line and posts.
Tools Needed
- The 12-inch bolt hooks that come with it
- a drill with a 7/8 bit,
- a level,
- a socket wrench,
- and your brace post that is already installed.
