Poly fence is a low-cost way to subdivide your pastures and keep livestock where you want them or keep animals out of the fields. This type of fencing makes it simple to create grazing paddocks effectively. We offer four different types of poly fence at Pasture Management: polywire, polyrope, polybraid, and polytape. Our poly fence is one of the best on the market because it has thicker and more strands of metal, making it more conductive. This ensures that electricity flows consistently and maintains a strong current for the entire length of the fence. For each type of poly fence, we have listed the good, better, and best options to help you decide which type is best for your situation. Polywire
Our polywire is ideal for general farm use with strands of polyethylene twisted around the metal conductors.
- Good: Pasture Management 6-strand stainless steel
- Better: Pasture Management 9-strand stainless steel
- Best: Pasture Management 6-strand copper and stainless steel blend
Polyrope
With polyrope being a ¼ in. diameter rope, it is more visible than polywire and is a better option for horse containment or deer exclusion. It also has a higher breaking strength than polywire, meaning it will withstand more pressure than ploywire.
- Good: Patriot 6-strand stainless steel
- Better: Pasture Management 9-strand copper and stainless steel blend
- Best: HorseSafe Copper Braided Rope
Polybraid
Polybraid is the best option for stronger livestock like cattle and aggressive goats. Polyethylene strands are braided around conductors to form a stronger fence with a higher breaking strength than the previous two polyfences mentioned above.
- Better: Pasture Management 9-strand stainless steel
- Best: Pasture Management 9-strand copper and stainless steel blend
Polytape
Our polytape is the highest visibility electric fence material suited for horse containment and deer exclusion.
- Better: Pasture Management 6-strand stainless steel
- Best: Pasture Management 5-strand thick stainless steel
When looking at the breakdown of the good, better, and best options of each type of poly fence, copper and stainless steel blends deliver the best results. Copper is more conductive than steel, creating a more powerful current. In our catalog, you will see resistance levels beside each type. The lower the resistance, the more conductive it is. No matter what you are trying to keep in, we have the fencing materials for every need ranging from good to best materials.
